(about:blank) appearing instead of new tab on Chrome

Before whenever I would hit the PREVIEW button on the HTML course, it would open a new tab (still does on my other computer), but from today it starts opening an about:blank new page.

I have already tried:

  1. updating
  2. clearing cache
  3. changing settings on chrome (start-up - open new tab)

However, nothing is working.

Any ideas?

I have solved the issue after 10 minutes of frustration.

The problem: I updated chrome and as a result it disabled adblock.
The solution: reenable adblock which caused the new window to become a new tab.

The problem has started again. And I have tried my previous solution. Issue persists… Will update when I solve this.

Interestingly I have found 2 work arounds…

  1. hold cmd+left click (ctrl on windows) = this will automatically open in a NEW TAB…
  2. Go on Safari and set it to ALWAYS open in in new tab.

2 hours of not doing any code because I had to solve this issue… but finally one random google thread had the answer… and now here it is for anybody out there…
