I am reading this book, it’s Designed with Care: Creating Trauma-Informed Content edited by Rachel Edwards
It’s a collection of articles by various designers involved in creating sites and content directed to vulnerable people, with the aim to make it easier for them to use the site or access the content.
Certain principles should be applied everywhere, clarity and explicit consent makes it easier for every user. We still need to fight dark pattern to unsubscribe for something instead.

While I have not found myself in a position to design for traumatized people, I will still try to bring with me the principles that can be applied.
A few of these are:
- collect explicit consent from users about what you do with the data. (Which is not a checkbox with a link to an other page that no one will read)
- make sure to collect data only if it’s actually necessary
- be clear on what the data is for
- while at the same time do not overwhelm with infos, it reduces clarity
