Advice for being better at writing code

I am new to writing code I would love some great advice for becoming better at writing code. :scream:

Read other people’s code. Pick some popular open source projects and start looking at their code. Depending on your skill level the code might be a little hard to read right now. So if you are just beginning then I would put more emphasis on learning the basics and not so much on writing perfect code.

You can also google “tips for writing good code” and get a ton of links back with good suggestions.

The main thing to remember is that your code should be readable for a human. In other words, you are writing code so that half a year from now when you need to come back to it you will be able to understand what you wrote without having to spend half a day trying to figure it out.
