AI replacing Cyber Security jobs

I am concerned if AI is replacing jobs in Cyber Security. Is AI a threat or is there a future for Cyber Security careers ?

AI has been a threat since 2023; learn the engineering behind the computers and the field you intend to build your career in. You’ll be fine. Just be equipped skill- and knowledge-wise.

No it’s been called a threat for like years now and nothing happened tbh. Though yes there’s more junk in the trunk of the cyberspace now teeheehee :skull::wilted_flower:

AI tools help with routine alert filtering and log triage, but automated attacks are expanding just as quickly. Systems still require people who understand network fundamentals and how attackers exploit configuration mistakes. Solid knowledge of networking and operating systems remains the right foundation.

So cyber security is one of the few industries that “cuts both ways” when it comes to most technology progress.

A developer with AI can produce more code and make improvements to help protect their code base.

At the same time, an attacker with AI can attack more systestems.ms using these automated sy

Because of this its widely been seen that cyber security is actually one area that has increased in importance in the age of AI. Knowing how to protect your software from automated attack has become its own industry.

I see AI as a double edged sword for cyber security.

On the one hand people are using it to attack, and other they are using having to use it to defend. As the costs of the technology goes down, and the quality of it increases, then stuff that becomes routine is handed off to AI. So that may look like fewer jobs. But it also opens up other possibilities and opportunities, so more advanced work for people.

Think of the industrial revolution. Machines literally replaced people, but it freed people to pursue higher learning and created new jobs and careers.

Remember, spreadsheets did not replace accountants, they allowed just about anyone to analyse data that was previously too costly or took months of work to do.

Happy coding
