I thought VS Code has a debugger and there’s lots of extensions available. I don’t know if the free version has compiler built in or not, I don’t really use compiled languages.
But yeah, definitely another option. Used intellij before when playing with java/android.
At one point I was trying out many different things to where I was like… um… “am I ever going to start coding? Just pick something”…the IDE/best editor quest became a distraction lol
