Basic CSS: the platform does not accept my code and I dont know why

The code is

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>

  .silver-background { background:silver;}

  .red-text {

    color: red;

  }

  h2 {

    font-family: Lobster, monospace;

  }

  p {

    font-size: 16px;

    font-family: monospace;

  }

  .thick-green-border {

    border-color: green;

    border-width: 10px;

    border-style: solid;

    border-radius: 50%;

  }

  .smaller-image {

    width: 100px;

  }

</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<main>

  <p class="red-text">Click here to view more <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>

  <a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back."></a>

  <div class="silver-background">

    <p>Things cats love:</p>

    <ul>

      <li>cat nip</li>

      <li>laser pointers</li>

      <li>lasagna</li>

    </ul>

    <p>Top 3 things cats hate:</p>

    <ol>

      <li>flea treatment</li>

      <li>thunder</li>

      <li>other cats</li>

    </ol>

  </div>

  <form action="https://freecatphotoapp.com/submit-cat-photo">

    <label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor" checked> Indoor</label>

    <label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label><br>

    <label><input type="checkbox" name="personality" checked> Loving</label>

    <label><input type="checkbox" name="personality"> Lazy</label>

    <label><input type="checkbox" name="personality"> Energetic</label><br>

    <input type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" required>

    <button type="submit">Submit</button>

  </form>

</main>

And I receive that message: “A class named silver-background should be defined within the style element and the value of silver should be assigned to the background-color property.”
I tried a lot of times but it did not work, what am I doing wrong?

I’ve edited your post for readability. When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.

You can also use the “preformatted text” tool in the editor (</>) to add backticks around text.

See this post to find the backtick on your keyboard.
Note: Backticks (`) are not single quotes (’).

Hello, welcome to the forum. In the future, it will be easier to help you if while on the challenge, your select the Get Help -> Ask for help button. It will copy your code and give us a link to the problem on which you are working.

The message tells you:

… and the value of silver should be assigned to the background-color property.

and this is your code:

.silver-background { background:silver;}

It wants a property of “background-color” but you gave it “background”. When I fix this, your code passes for me.

It worked! Thank you :slight_smile:
