Bootstrap navbar padding

If I run this simple code, I get padding in the navbar and hence the nav-items are not occupying the full-height. How to remove it to make it look like block element?

<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
    <!-- Required meta tags -->
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, shrink-to-fit=no">

    <!-- Bootstrap CSS -->

<!--load all styles -->
    <nav class="navbar navbar-expand-lg navbar-light bg-light">
  <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">Navbar</a>
  <button class="navbar-toggler" type="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarSupportedContent" aria-controls="navbarSupportedContent" aria-expanded="false" aria-label="Toggle navigation">
    <span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>

  <div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarSupportedContent">
    <ul class="navbar-nav mr-auto">
      <li class="nav-item active">
        <a class="nav-link" href="#">Home <span class="sr-only">(current)</span></a>
      <li class="nav-item">
        <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
      <li class="nav-item dropdown">
        <a class="nav-link dropdown-toggle" href="#" id="navbarDropdown" role="button" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
        <div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="navbarDropdown">
          <a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Action</a>
          <a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Another action</a>
          <div class="dropdown-divider"></div>
          <a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Something else here</a>
      <li class="nav-item">
        <a class="nav-link disabled" href="#">Disabled</a>
    <form class="form-inline my-2 my-lg-0">
      <input class="form-control mr-sm-2" type="search" placeholder="Search" aria-label="Search">
      <button class="btn btn-outline-success my-2 my-sm-0" type="submit">Search</button>

Hey, I want to help you, but I am afraid of being wrong … because I have just been involved in this world

You could try and remove the padding using spacing helper classes. Setting px-0 on navbar-nav might do the trick. It is kind of hard to see what the problem might be without a working example somewhere.

Hey, thanks. Will give it a try!

Found the solution. All I had to do is insert the following css styling :slight_smile:

.active {
	background-color: beige;

.navbar {
	margin:0 !important;
	padding: 0px !important;
