Build a Celestial Bodies Database

Tell us what’s happening:

Hey guys, hope you’re all well,

I’m running into the same issue as a lot of people on here. I’ve completed this “Celestial Bodies Database” successfully (CodeRoad clearly stated “You’ve reached the end of the road”) as well as uploaded the dump file to this public repo https://github.com/MChance-dev/Coding-Practice
Yet the project page still shows “You must complete the project first”
I’ve been stuck for days and have tried every method given on here.
Please help!
Thank you so much!

Hi @MChance

You need to make your repo publicly accessible.

Happy coding

Hey @Teller

I juste checked once again and the repo’s visibility is indeed set to public.
Is there any other setting that needs to be changed?

I’m asking because something strange just happened: my repo is indeed set to public, but when I try to search for it when signed out of my account, it isn’t found (Error 404).

I am completely new to GitHub. What am I doing wrong ?

Thank you for your reply

Happy coding!

Mike

Hi @MChance

While logged out, go to your GitHub profile page.

Do you see any error messages?

Happy coding

Ok weirder and weirder : even my account isn’t found when searched for. When I type in the GitHub URL to my account, it shows Error 404. Should I create an entirely new account?

have you maybe received a notice from github about your account being suspected spam? that would explain you seeing your account, but not everyone else seeing it

in that case you need to reach out to github support

I haven’t received any actual message but I have seen my account marked as “flagged”. I will reach out to GitHub support and see what they can do about it. Should I say that I am a freeCodeCamp student?

being a freeCodeCamp student is not relevant to github moderation

Ok I’ll reach out to them and see what they can do

I’ll keep you posted thanks a lot @ILM and @Teller

Happy Coding

Greetings from France :france:

Mike

GitHub suspects me having multiple accounts (which is not true) and doesn’t allow me to send them another ticket. How can I continue my training? Should I completely scrap this account and start afresh?

Thank you so much for the support

Happy coding

Mike

if you already are flagged for having multiple accounts opening a new one does not seam a great idea

did you already send a ticket to them?

Yes and the reply said:

« Your account was flagged because you appear to have registered multiple free user accounts. Our Terms of Service state that an individual may not maintain more than one

If you believe we should have reached a different decision, please review our process for appeals and submit additional information via the instructions found here:

GitHub Appeal and Reinstatement »

Except that GitHub Appeal link sends me right back to the « create new ticket » screen. What should I do ?
I’m sorry to bother you with this

Thank you

Mike

if you already created a ticket wait

Ok but that ticket is marked as « archived » so I’m not sure if they’re going to respond at all

I have no idea on the internal workings of github support

are you sure you don’t really have multiple accounts?

Yes I am. I have triple checked with both of my email addresses and only one is recognised by GitHub

I have all the files that are in my repo saved locally. Maybe I could try to delete my account completely and start afresh?

I don’t know how that would be seen by github, I can’t give a suggestion about that

It won’t even let me delete my account without contacting them and when I try to it says « please try again later »

I will continue on with the certification and try again tomorrow. Thank you so much to both of you @ILM @Teller I will keep this thread open until the problem is solved and explain when it is so that other people do not experience the same issues

Happy coding,

Mike
