Tell us what’s happening:

I keep getting an error telling me that my code for checking if the variable discount is not an integer or a float is incorrect. Can someone who knows better than me dumb it down so I can figure out what is going on?

def apply_discount(price, discount):
    if price is not (int, float):
        return ("The price should be a number")
    elif price <= 0:
        return("The price should be greater than 0")
    elif discount is not (int, float):
         return ("The discount should be a number.")
    elif discount < 0 or discount > 100:
        return("The discount should be between 0 and 100")
    else:
        discount_percentage = price - discount / 100 * price
        return(price)

apply_discount(100, 20)
apply_discount(200, 50)
apply_discount(50, 0)
apply_discount(567, 100)
apply_discount(74.5, 20.0)
