Build an RPG Character - Build an RPG Character

Tell us what’s happening:

I cannot seem to get any other the “should not return” tests to pass. I have tried all known option for that.

Your code so far

full_dot = '●'
empty_dot = '○'

def create_character(name, strength, intelligence, charisma):

    if not isinstance(name, str):
        return "The character name should be a string." or ''

    if name == "":
        return "The character should have a name." or ''

    if len(name) > 10:
        return "The character name is too long." or ''

    if " " in name:
        return "The character name should not contain spaces." or ''

    if not all(isinstance(stat, int) for stat in [strength, intelligence, charisma]):
        return "All stats should be integers." or ''

    if any(stat < 1 for stat in [strength, intelligence, charisma]):
        return "All stats should be no less than 1." or ''

    if any(stat > 4 for stat in [strength, intelligence, charisma]):
        return "All stats should be no more than 4." or ''

    if strength + intelligence + charisma != 7:
        return "The character should start with 7 points." or ''

    def stat_bar(value):
        return "●" * value + "○" * (10 - value)

    return (f"{name}\n"
        f"STR {stat_bar(strength)}\n"
        f"INT {stat_bar(intelligence)}\n"
        f"CHA {stat_bar(charisma)}"
    )

print(create_character('ren', 4, 2, 1))

To start addressing your issues, firstly do you know what your function is returning?

Welcome to the forum @NifflerCmdr!

What’s with the or ''`` at the end of yourreturnstatements? And should yourreturn` messages include punctuation?

Happy coding!
