Build an RPG Character - Build an RPG Character

Tell us what’s happening:

Hi guys I’m a bit confused doing this task as its next in the list but don’t recall learning about for statements or the stat.values(), I’ve just added it based off other people’s code, which topic page is this in so I can revisit it since I seem to have missed it?

Your code so far

full_dot = '●'
empty_dot = '○'

def create_character(name,strength,intelligence,charisma):
    if not isinstance(name,str):
        return "The character name should be a string"
    if name == "":
        return "The character should have a name"
    if len(name) > 10:
        return "The character name is too long"
    if " " in name:
        return "The character name should not contain spaces"

    if not isinstance(create_character,int):
        return "All stats should be integers"

    stats = {"STR" :strength, "INT":intelligence, "CHA":charisma}
    for stat in stats.values():
        if not isinstance(stat,int):
            return "All stats should be integers"

    for stat in stats.values():
        if stat < 1:
            return "All stats should be no less than 1"

Hi @sadiaaaa.x,

You didn’t miss anything.

You can do this challenge entirely using what you have learned so far about creating if statements with multiple conditions using and/or operators and checking type using isinstance. You’ve also learned about f-strings (string interpolation) and concatenation, which will help you to create the final return string.

You can always explore to try to understand more advanced coding concepts, but it doesn’t help you to just blindly copy someone else’s code without understanding it.

Happy coding

Thank you for the reply yeah I did just move on to the next topic and figured I’d revisit it later I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t somehow missed the learning notes. I only copied the code to see if I could work backwards to understand it but I’ll give it another go :slight_smile:
