Building a Balance Sheet Step 57

Just a quick question about this step. In the CSS, I selected and added right padding to only the rightmost cells of the last rows in each table. Why then does the padding also get added to the cells above in the same column? Does this happen automatically because, being in the same column of the same table, the data needs to stay aligned? It just seemed somewhat strange in that I didn’t select all the cells that the padding was added to.

The columns of a table are supposed to act like that. If you expand or shrink a cell in one row, the other row’s corresponding cell will also change. It’s to keep them in line with each other.
