Can you guys help me here please?

I’ve tried learning to code before but gave up early. This time, I’m serious about being consistent and actually putting in the effort.

Before I dive back in, I have a few questions and would love your input:

Is learning to code still worth it in 2025?
With AI tools getting so good, is it still valuable to spend time learning how to code from scratch?
Game Development vs Web Development?
I’m really interested in game dev, so I was thinking of learning C# (probably with Unity). But should I consider starting with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) instead?
How much time should I realistically spend each week learning?
I want to stay consistent but not burn out. Any advice on a good weekly routine for a beginner?

HI @nitro1 !

Welcome to the forum!

awesome! welcome back to programming :+1:

This question comes up all of the time on the forum because of all of the hype around AI and random billionaires claiming that AI is going to replace us all.

But remember that those saying that coding is dead have a lot of incentive for you to quit because they will make billions from these AI tools. So of course they are going to over hype it.

Yes AI will continue to evolve and get better. But here is the one thing that AI can’t do which is to solve all of the world’s problems.

All throughout human history, the ones who always thrive in our society have been the problem solvers. The ones who are able to face hard complex problems and come up with solutions have always been highly desirable and needed.

Programming is not about throwing random code at the wall or just coding for no reason.

Professional programming is about taking a hard complex problem, breaking it down, thinking about possible solutions, and THEN implementing a solution with code.

Coding is a skill and a tool to help you solve problems. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C++, SQL, Rust, etc. are all just tools.

Learn how to be an effective problem solver with code to solve these issues and you will be fine. :+1:

I don’t think you will be able to get any helpful responses to this question because unfortunately it is to vague of a question.

If you want to expand on that question further, then you will receive more helpful responses.

Then start with game dev.

Don’t fall in the trap of constantly thinking and never acting. Just start. :+1:
Find a C# course and start learning and building projects.

I would suggest watching Quincy’s video on good learning habits

those videos I linked earlier, will help with this question too.

Hope that helps :+1:

thanks for the advice
