I need upskilling advice, i have been working on PHP since last 9 years. I am learning Salesforce. Will this be a good career option to re-skill, any other suggestion to start working in 2025 in AI era.

Thank you for showing interest in my advice. I really don’t know what path should I go in AI era. I am thinking every tech like Should i go to React or DevOps or Salesforce. Salesforce can give us the way to target multi sectors not restricted to IT only. If you have better suggestions please guide. I feel salesforce is bit less crowded

but if you ask me how can you get to that answer perhaps you can answer few of these questions:

  • what was your previous role with php, what part of it did you like and which you didnt
  • what current trends do you like, and why?
  • do you see yourself delving into any of those currently trending paths?
  • which stack do you have to learn to get there

im quite certain that if you do look into it bit more you will find out what is best for you. happy coding :slight_smile:

I am working as an Senior Engineer, but as it is mostly in Legacy project this tech used.

If no more projects on PHP then need to move to other tech in 2025 and in future.

Its better to be proactive to learn something with AI to upskill where projects should be more and technology used more.

as i am stuck first which tech i should start to learn, i can dedicate myself with any tech.

I just look for i should not be running out of projects because of tech is declining.

Welcome to the forum!

Have a look into AI-enhanced DevOps/MLOps, if you can see yourself in an operations role that requires coding.

Stack: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (i.e. Terraform), Python and ML-basics, monitoring (i.e. Grafana/Prometheus)

Your experience will help you create production environments, server configurations, deployments and writing IaC-scripts.

Here are my thoughts:

  • If you want stability → Salesforce + cloud certifications.
  • If you want growth + relevance in AI era → Transition into Python + AI/ML + cloud, and use your enterprise background to bridge business + AI.
  • The sweet spot may be: AI integrations inside enterprise platforms (like Salesforce with AI copilots, chatbots, analytics). This way you leverage both.
