I have question regarding to the certificates. My employers asked me why my digital certificates were missing a statement “representing approximately 300 hours of coursework” but my printed one showed this statement.
I could see the certificates had been updated recently to a new version.
My company needs to know how many hours I had spent to get these certificates each.
Is it possible to put the estimated hours statement back on the certificate please?
For any prospective employer who isn’t familiar with the FCC curriculum, a ‘Responsive Web Design’ certification alone doesn’t give much indication of the scope of the course or the time/work investment involved.
Such a certification could represent a course of anything from a handful of hours to many hundreds. 300 hours may well be a reasonable average. I agree that it must be almost impossible to arrive at an accurate figure though.
However, I’d certainly argue that the FCC certificates should include some indication of the time commitment involved to achieve them. I have certainly invested several hundred hours in each of my certifications (though that includes considerable time spent researching and studying beyond the scope of the courses).
I get the utility of a number associated with the curriculum, I just don’t see how we can produce something reasonably accurate, let alone accurate across our different blocks.
