Certification Introduction - Pinyin Tone Input

Tell us what’s happening:

The very first exercise in the beta Chinese 1 won’t accept the second 4.
The text is supposed to read ni3hao3 then shi4jie4, but the input area is not long enough to accept the second 4 I got the ni hao to work by deleting the space between the words, but the shi jie just won’t accept the second 4.

It worked for me by cut and pasting the words in the grey shaded area into the test area.

Hi @esimonds45 could you tell us precisely which characters you’re typing and into which box?

I’ve tested typing ni3 hao3 into the first box and shi4 jie4 into the second and it works for me. Could you try that?

I tried that multiple times and in each case, I can get ni3hao if I leave the space out and I can get the shi4jie if I leave the space out. The second 3 and second 4 will not work. I’m using windows 10 on a laptop.

I tried that with no space and the ni hao worked but the shi jie still wouldn’t allow the second 4 even without the space.

Maybe it is your system. I cut and paste:

‘ni3 hao3’
‘shi4 jie4’

Note there is a space in between. It then automatically updates with the correct notations. Try cut and pasting the above but without the quotation marks.
