I picked up FreeCodeCamp as an activity again.
I don’t like the new design for the courses. Specifically the ‘theory’ sections. A simple blog page doesn’t teach and instill knowledge of tags, elements and the like as well as the original gamified workshop model did. The latter is a major positive that I’m sad to see being departed from.
In fact I’d go as far as to say it is a lazier design. Yes, the quiz on each is there, but my point stands regardless.
The older curriculum is still available in the archive section.
One of the drawbacks of the earlier HTML curriculum was that it didn’t have any lecture notes, or go into details about the various elements. There are workshops available in the beta version where you get to practice the concepts taught in the lessons.
Also, videos are available on the freeCodeCamp YouTube channel, and there are plenty of articles in the news section.
