Curriculum Restructure

Well hello again everyone! I am once again in your notifications bringing you updates.

We have just restructured our curriculum layout, in preparation to begin releasing our new certifications. Here’s the breakdown:

  • The Full-Stack Developer certification has been broken down into smaller certification sections. If you were working through HTML and CSS, you’ll find that in the Responsive Web Design section. If you were working through JavaScript, that’s in the JavaScript section.
  • I promise they are still part of the same big full stack thing. In fact, you can see them at https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/full-stack-developer-v9/ too!
  • NONE OF YOUR PROGRESS IS LOST. We’ve just moved things around a bit.
  • Were you working through the super duper old stuff??? I really suggest the new stuff, it’s shiny and up to date. BUUUUUUUT if you really wanna do the old stuff, you can find it all at https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/archive/ now.

Okie dokie! That should be everything. We’re working hard to get the exams released so you can start claiming these checkpoint certifications!

Happy Coding!

Ok, but as all of them are not finished it would be good to see for each like the percentage of completed steps or marked as complete totally.

the main work has been done for HTML, CSS, JS and Python, Front End Libraries still need some stuff

we can’t garantee that the content for HTML CSS JS and Python will not get more updates, we can find out because of user feedback later on that something needs adjusting, and we will, the content is never completely set in stone

HTML had 285 lessons, now it has 276, 9 are gone

that sometimes happen, but nothing important got lost, the nine steps were removing boilerplate steps that were decided to not be useful, between 63716 and 63717 and 63719

Javascript went from 1038 to 1034, code editors (5 lessons) is now in Relational Databases . It seems like 1038 - 5 (code editors) + 1 (new) = 1034

that is also correct, there were feedback that the Code Editor module was too early and created confusion

The tone is so uplifting :upside_down_face:

Positivity and excitement are important! Gotta have fun while we crush some code!

Thank you so much for adding more labs for the regex module in JavaScript

Going straight to the markdown lab after the palindrome lab was really difficult. I struggled with how to start because i couldn’t remember everything.

Hi,

Thanks for the changes to make the curriculum more streamlined and clear.
However, it makes it harder to track your progress:

I have already finished most of the modules and I’m waiting for new courses to be published. I used to check the Full Stack curriculum to get overview of what was new.

Now I need to click on every single module to check, which is kind of annoying. Would it be possible to bring an overview of your progress to the main page?

Also, the JS course shows “1033 steps of 1034 complete”, but I have already completed everything (and nothing new has been published since). So there’s a mismatch.

what about react, is there any new releases anytime soon?

the react content has been released, are you asking about something in particular?

i think the last step thats missing will be the exam.

It isn’t the exam, other modules don’t have this display problem

the voting lab was duplicated both outside and inside the module, it’s going to be fixed

I´m frustrated with that too, I just entered before and could see the overall progress with all I had done and what was still pending.

an other similar PR that removed steps to add boilerplate was released
