How do you personally define the digital divide?
When and how did you first access and utilize digital technology?
From what I understand, the digital divide is the divide between those who have access to technology and the Internet, and those who do not. It puts people at lower socioeconomic classes at even more of a disadvantage, because they do not have access to educational or vocational resources. I am sure this problem is compounded in less developed areas that do not have libraries or public schools with computers and Internet access.
I feel like I was moderately privileged. I had access to computers at school starting at the age of 5, and the Internet at the age of 11. We got our first computer at home when I was 9, and we didn’t have Internet at home until I was 13. I did feel like I was at a slight disadvantage in those intervening years, compared to other students who were able to access the Internet at home. I remember printing off webpages at school to bring home to reference for assignments. And I recognize now that there are still students in the world who don’t even have that privilege.
I am grateful for the access that I have had throughout my life and I support making the Internet and all knowledge more accessible for everyone.

If you start at the original question, you will understand the replies better. But your absolutely correct asking others to do your homework for you would not be appropriate.
