Does Python Exam Has A Bug?

I have just attempted the new Python Exam. When I went to question 40 (or 39?), an “unexpected error“ message kept appearing when I submitted answer to the question and was stuck in the same page. After dozens trials I discovered I could only get out of this jam by clicking the buttons of other questions. And after I finished the other questions I tried to go back to that question, the same error appeared, and I discovered when I clicked the button of Question 40, the displayed question was numbered ‘39’,(!) but that question was slightly different from the “Question 39“ by clicking the 39 button! So I wonder whether there are two “Question 39”s mistakenly provided in the exam.

Do you have any screenshots or remember what the exact content of the question was?

They are drawn randomly from a large bank, so if the content of one of the questions was causing this bug would need the question content to track it down, as it’s not always going to be 39 (or 40)

these advices would not work, the exam environment is a desktop app

Hello there,

Did you sign out of your https://freecodecamp.org account during the exam? EDIT: Irrelevant

Did you regenerate your authorization token during the exam?

I don’t have screenshots, but I remember one question is about something like the operator that checks the equality of two objects, the other is about the operator that checks the equality of two variables.

I guess not. But the exam was conducted when internet connection was not good, and there were numerous submission failures that required repeated submissions. I’m not sure whether it would lead to the issue you suggest.

Possibly.

I believe I can see your error reported in our error tracker (error description and timing matches what you have said).

I will need to debug this, but it looks like an invalid submission was made.

Thanks for your help. :+1:

Thank you for your patience on this matter.
