Error on Ferris Wheel - Step 1

Hi Folks !
I am trying to solve the Step 1 on Ferris Wheel lesson.
No matter what I write, my code doesn’t pass.

My code is below:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
  <head>
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
    <title>Ferris Wheel</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css">
  </head>
  <body></body>
  </html>

I have used:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css">

and

<link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" />

but the code does not pass and I get:

Test: Sorry, your code does not pass. Keep trying.

Hint : You should have one self-closing link element.

Any suggestion?

My code is correct but the test says that the rel element must have an self-closing ending tag (that it has already)

<!-- file: index.html -->
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
  <head>
    <title>Ferris Wheel</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="./styles.css" />
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
  </head>
  <body></body>
  </html>
/* file: styles.css */

Challenge: Learn CSS Animation by Building a Ferris Wheel - Step 1

Link to the challenge:

Compare the stylesheet name you used to the one the exercise wanted…

I have tried with same file name and structure but I get the same error !

what value did you use for the ref? The above is wrong.

Please do not open duplicate topics to discuss the same fCC challenge. Instead, just post responses to the topic already created. I’ve merged your duplicates into one.

I have used :

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css" />

Same error…

Some hint?

Maybe it’s a system error?

the code here (not the other two posted) works for me.
Please try one of the following to move forward:

  • Click on the “Restart Step” button and force a refresh of your page with CTRL-F5 then try to paste the code in again.

  • or - Try the step in incognito or private mode

  • or - Try a different browser or disable browser extensions that may interfere with the test.

We hope one of these will work for you.

I have already restarted the step with new code but error persist !

this one is missing the html closing

Dear… It was corrected already!

as mentioned, try the steps to see if one of them will help.
Your code worked for me when I pasted it into the exercise.
(Your browser extensions may be interfering so hopefully one of the steps mentioned will help)

Tested all the possible solutions… but error still arise…

Test

Sorry, your code does not pass. You’re getting there.

Hint

You should have one self-closing link element.

Dear @hbar1st

I don’t know which browser extensions are you referring to… I am using Chrome.

It was already corrected ! Thanks

What is your exact current code?

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
  <head>
    <title>Ferris Wheel</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="./styles.css" />
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
  </head>
  <body></body>
</html>

and the instructions are:

Step 1

Begin with the standard boilerplate. Add your DOCTYPE declaration, your html element with the language set to English, your head and body elements.

Add your meta element for the correct charset, your title element, and a link element for the ./styles.css file.

Set the title to Ferris Wheel.

I can read the instructions fine myself, thanks.

That exact code works for me. I’d check that you are running zero browser extensions and that your browser is 100% up to date.

You can also try an incognito tab.

You can also try a different browser.

But I still get:

Test

Sorry, your code does not pass. You’re getting there.

Hint

You should have one self-closing link element.

Can you confirm that you actually

  1. disabled every single browser extension

  2. tried incognito mode

  3. tried a different browser
