This is starting to become common practice. When companies use AI, replace people with AI, use AI as an accelerator, there are literally fewer actual humans left to review anything, if any.
With repos and codebases, the bottleneck isn’t code or quality code. It’s human review. Maintainers simply do not have the time to manually review every PR. They have already begun using AI to review code, whether human, augmented AI, or AI generated.
I read a story about someone who had their entire collection of videos on a Meta platform deleted, supposedly because someone left a derogatory comment. The appeal process went nowhere, apparently once AI makes a decision their isn’t any real human oversight available. The same logic used in the initial ban is used in the appeal or review. Luckily they saved all their content elsewhere and moved to another platform.
According to policy, the YouTube AI made the decision that a portion of the content was harmful. YouTube simply cannot review every decision that an AI makes. Nor does it have the time or resources to hear every appeal.
If you want to use a service to generate income, then perhaps you need to pay a fee for it. That way you can sue for damages thorough the courts.
I just saw the news of an animation video being restricted as for kids by youtube, even after all the author appeals that say it is absolutely not for kids considering the vulgar language and adult topics.
I don’t think there are humans involved anymore in many of these things
