FYP Advice: Student Seeking help...

Hey everyone,
I am currently in my 6th semester and I have to submit an FYP (Final year project) idea by the end of this semester.

I have some ideas as well as some issues. There are 2 kinds of FYP in our University.

  1. Student FYP

  2. Industry Grade FYP

The Industry grade FYP is where a person from the industry basically backs up our project and we create something for them. My initial idea was a RAG based chatbot but I cannot see any industry that needs a RAG system in our country. I have asked multiple companies for any project they need but its not really working.

As seniors in my field and many of you having gone through what I am going through is there something you will recommend me in this scenario?

Industry-grade is nice to have, not a must. If it’s causing you stress and delaying your progress, let it go and build something solid on your own. A well-executed student FYP beats a half-baked industry project every time.

But if you still want industry backing, stop asking for any project — start offering a specific solution to a problem you’ve already noticed. That shifts you from “student looking for work” to “student offering value,” and people respond much better to that.
