Gaining real work experience

Hey fellow devs,
Is there such a thing as volunteer dev work? I’m looking for ways to gain some real world coding experience. I realize that there’s also open source and practice on your own, but I was wondering if there is a way to get a taste of a real working environment. Or is that another area where they only want seniors helping out?

The closest to actual experience you are going to get is open source. You might even be able to look on sites like fiver, and see if there is anyone who needs a small web page or something. Besides that, most people and businesses are not going to trust someone who they don’t know, haven’t seen a list of projects that you have already done, or a list of qualifications

You can also look at small businesses around just starting out and see if anyone needs their website re-done. However, in most cases they use sites that already give them pre built web templates

You could contribute to freeCodeCamp’s codebase.

Really? That’s a thing?

It very much is.

After you have read the docs you can look at the open issues.
