Google Fonts worth recommending?

Tell us what’s happening:

Hi there! The HTML course prominently recommends using Google Fonts when building webpages. I was told using Google Fonts enables Google to track usage of your websites and is therefore not compatible with European legislation (GDPR).

Am I correct and if so wouldn’t it be better to mention something like this? in the course? Or am I overthinking it?
