// Only change code below this line

var ratings = [...watchList];
//for(var i=0; i < watchList.length; i++){
//  ratings.push({title: watchList[i]["Title"],  rating: watchList[i]["imdbRating"]});
//}
function myfunction(ratings) {

      "rating": e.imdbRating
    };
  });
}
//ratings += watchList.map(movie => "title");
// Only change code above this line
console.log(myfunction(ratings))

it returns:

[ { title: 'Inception', rating: '8.8' },
  { title: 'Interstellar', rating: '8.6' },
  { title: 'The Dark Knight', rating: '9.0' },
  { title: 'Batman Begins', rating: '8.3' },
  { title: 'Avatar', rating: '7.9' } ]

as per solution it should be:

ratings should equal [{"title":"Inception","rating":"8.8"},{"title":"Interstellar","rating":"8.6"},{"title":"The Dark Knight","rating":"9.0"},{"title":"Batman Begins","rating":"8.3"},{"title":"Avatar","rating":"7.9"}].

Hello there @robertmurer,

In the challenge it’s checking if the variable ratings is equal to the solution:
image

But in your code, the function doesn’t actually modify the variable ratings. If you do console.log(ratings) it will return the whole array of objects, this means you have to try to make the function modify the variable ratings, because this is what the Challenge is checking.

Hope this helps,

Right. As s/he says, you need to modify that variable. You don’t actually have to wrap it in “myfunction” the way you’ve done here. You just need to create the array ratings.

You also don’t need var ratings = [...watchList]; - that just creates a shallow copy of the original array. You just need to create the variable ratings with a new array - and map returns a new array. You can wrap it in an array, but the tests don’t require it. You just need to end up with a variable ratings in the global scope that has the correct info.

Hey @kevinSmith, just a friendly tip, next time just use “they” instead of “s/he”. That’s all. Thanks for helping out though!! :slight_smile:

Thanks @Catalactics and @kevinSmith but if I do this:

ratings = watchList.map(movie => movie.Title);

I only get this result:

[ 'Inception',
  'Interstellar',
  'The Dark Knight',
  'Batman Begins',
  'Avatar' ]

And I cannot find how to add the key for the array with “map”, and also how to add several key:values to the array… I mean this is not explained!

Thanks

What you can do is do the same thing you did but in the same form you just did. Doing movie.Title is just returning the value of the object you specified. So what you want to do is to return an object with the value of what you specified. What you can do is return an object with the value you specified like this: return {"title": movie.Title}.

Hope this helps,
