How do you retain the material as you go along freecodecamp certificate

I am interested in knowing how most people retain the information. Is it best to just go through the slides or use index cards or study notes to memorize the language.

I have found that the best way to retain knowledge is to keep using the knowledge and learning. For code that means building more and more stuff : )
