How long does it usually take to become proficient with React?

I am joining the React train finally and making it a mission to wrap my head around using ReactJS.

One of my biggest complaints is that I cannot alter state directly. Therefore, I have to implement these tricks to altet state

Yeah, you cant mutate the state directly, You gotta use setState!

It took me about 6 weeks to get it down. I highly recommend the React course on Scrimba. He explains everything thoroughly with plenty of intermediate practice opportunities. Then I completed the front end libraries projects here using React. The final project on the Scrimba course and first project here are similar/different enough to make an easy transition into more independent projects.

I was searching the forum looking for an answer like this. THANK YOU!

Did you use redux to complete the projects or just react? I started the scrimba course today and so far it’s great!

Depends on your pacing; you can learn while building a project and it may take from a couple of days up to a full month. Learning react is not hard, dedicating tons of effort towards it (or Angular) does take up a couple of months.

Those who never heard of scrimba ( just like me :slightly_smiling_face: )

Just React. A deep dive into Redux is on my todo list.

Or even better - Hooks.
