How to on touch remove added class without jQuery?

Hello, how to - on touch - remove added class without jQuery?
I’m using JavaScript attached to _S Wordpress theme, if I touch LI element (with sub-menu), “focus” class is added, if I touch other LI element (with sub-menu), “focus” class is from opened LI (sub-menu) removed.
I would like to remove ‘focus’ class when I touch LI with opened sub-menu too.
Can anyone help me to fix that? I’ve tried on-click events but it doesn’t work (I’m sorry, I’m complete JS beginner)

( function() {
	var container, button, menu, links, i, len;

	container = document.getElementById( 'site-navigation' );
	if ( ! container ) {
		return;
	}

	button = container.getElementsByTagName( 'button' )[0];
	if ( 'undefined' === typeof button ) {
		return;
	}

	menu = container.getElementsByTagName( 'ul' )[0];

	// Hide menu toggle button if menu is empty and return early.
	if ( 'undefined' === typeof menu ) {
		button.style.display = 'none';
		return;
	}

	menu.setAttribute( 'aria-expanded', 'false' );
	if ( -1 === menu.className.indexOf( 'nav-menu' ) ) {
		menu.className += ' nav-menu';
	}

	button.onclick = function() {

			container.className += ' toggled';
			button.setAttribute( 'aria-expanded', 'true' );
			menu.setAttribute( 'aria-expanded', 'true' );
		}
	};

	// Get all the link elements within the menu.
	links    = menu.getElementsByTagName( 'a' );

	// Each time a menu link is focused or blurred, toggle focus.
	for ( i = 0, len = links.length; i < len; i++ ) {
		links[i].addEventListener( 'focus', toggleFocus, true );
		links[i].addEventListener( 'blur', toggleFocus, true );
	}

		var self = this;

		// Move up through the ancestors of the current link until we hit .nav-menu.
		while ( -1 === self.className.indexOf( 'nav-menu' ) ) {

		if ( 'ontouchstart' in window ) {

				if ( ! menuItem.classList.contains( 'focus' ) ) {
					e.preventDefault();
					for ( i = 0; i < menuItem.parentNode.children.length; ++i ) {

} )();

This is far from a complete answer, but if you haven’t already, check out using info from this MDN page about toggling based on a classList.

My rough thought being, to toggle the class on or off for the given list item(s) based on either an onmouseover and onmouseout event or an onclick event like you mentioned trying.

Thanks you! For an reason it seems that onclick is not working :frowning:
