I mentioned last week that i would start a blog talking about my learning process, the idea is really simple, i always thought it’d be nice to know the whole career of someone, every learning material a person has ever used since the start of his/her career. The plan is to do that with this blog, i made my first post today, you can read it here https://cscareerblog.wordpress.com/2016/09/30/cs50-and-c-foundational-knowledge/, or if you want to know about my programming knowledge previous to this experiment, just read the about page https://cscareerblog.wordpress.com/computer-science-career/.
Keep in mind english isn’t my native language, if you spot any grammatical mistakes just comment either here or there and i’ll fix it. Also suggestions and feedback on the content, if it’s too much text, if i swear too much, yada yada. Just comment here or there and i’ll certainly check it out.
Hey, thanks a lot for your words, i was already following OSS curriculum, but not religiously, i might skip some courses in the future, or change them for other alternatives.
For this month i have decided to read “Pro git”, “Computer System’s: a programmer’s perspective” and do the course “Effective thinking through mathematics”, but i still need another programming oriented course, which i haven’t quite decided yet, for now i’m between “MIT 6.001 https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-001-structure-and-interpretation-of-computer-programs-spring-2005/” and the course you mentioned, “How to code: Systematic program design”.
I’ve always wanted to read SICP, but since you already did the course and already liked it, i’ll probably continue following OSS curriculum, i was a bit afraid that this program design course would be far too superficial for some reason. But i’ll take a better look, and probably do this one, i can always do SICP later.
Thanks again for taking the time to read, i might make a post talking about what courses i’ll do from now on/share my trello board for studies. Is there anything else you’d like to read about? My plan is to write about once a month, since that gives me time to finish the courses and read plenty of books.
Here’s my board since i’m not sure if i’ll make a post about it https://trello.com/b/mNUU8RU4/
I don’t plan far too much ahead, though, i have a billion things i want to learn, but if i write it all down i’ll just get confused, so i only post on the board whatever i’ll do as my next step. I have a post on the blog listing most of my resources though, so that might be useful to you https://cscareerblog.wordpress.com/list-of-learning-resources/
And thanks for the insight on program design, i might start it today, since i can only start effective thinking in oct 3rd (they locked everything for some reason, even previous content).
