I'm a teacher of 31 and I want to start coding with 0 knowledge

Hi you’all.
I’m 31, I live in Argentina, I speak some English and I work as an Spanish and Literature teacher at a Highschool. I want to give a turn to my carreer by learning about IT or coding (I’m not sure yet, I have no base nor knowledges). My idea is to be specialized in Education (I’m finishing a Master in Education) and IT but I don’t know where to start, if I should pay any courses of maybe learn some languages.
I started yesterday with HTML. I found it amazing and fun but I don’t know where to go next.

Hello,
I think you should do the certifications provided by the freecodecamp.org at least till front-end frameworks, that way you will have specialisation in front-end web development. Learn till frameworks such React, Angular and Bootstrap. Later you could work through back-end web development as well. Getting 1st certification is easy, its from the 2nd one, it becomes hard, in my opinion. And play around the site and see what section interests you after you have got the enough know how.

this sounds obvious, but every programmer starts in that place of not knowing what in the world is going on, so don’t feel bad that you don’t know how to code yet. everyone has to start somewhere and that somewhere is the beginning.

it would help to determine what you would want to do with coding. do you want to develop apps? work in cyber security? web development? game development? the tech field is quite expansive, so figuring out which part of it interests you can help you not feel so overwhelmed. i would recommend looking through different tech jobs, finding one that interests you, and figuring out what you need to do to get there.

as far as i know HTML is commonly used for the development of websites, so if that sounds like something you’d be interested in i’d recommend https://www.freecodecamp.org/

i hope this helps!

Hello I am also a 38 year old male married teacher but i teach history in Zimbabwe. I started coding late last year. still going through the responsive web design course. It has taken me alot of time because the school where i teach there is no electricity and my internet this side is expensive. Keep moving forward with HTML. All the best. Stay blessed

Welcome!

I am still early myself and drug my feet a little getting started as it seemed very overwhelming.

Folks talk about languages left and right, it’s hard to know what they all are and why they all are…There are so many out there.

You’re an educator already so you are constantly in a learning environment. I found that it is really just fully becoming a student again and enjoy the learning process.

Also reading and engaging on the forum helps. It has helped me at least stay motivated.

Good luck!

I feel anxious as well…I think it is normal when you are just starting!
