In my fourties, just starting learning

Hello there! (Yay! I can post now on the forum!!!)

I’m Nicolas, I live in France. Just starting the learning process, as the title says.
I’m feeling quite excited about this, also a bit overwhelmed sometimes as many of you probably are or were when they did start.

At this stage I don’t have a really defined carreer plan: I just want to learn how to code and build cool stuff. I’ll see what happens, and if I like it I’ll consider it seriously.

This doesn’t mean I don’t have goals or dreams, I’m interested in different fields concerning programming: how to build a cool website from scratch, some basic games would be cool too as a starting point.

But if I had to set a goal, coming from an electronic musician background, I’d probably go the audio-developper route.
I know, it’s not really the place to learn this stuff on FCC, but I saw some nice projects in the Curriculum section (build a drum machine!!!) and also subscribed to the newsletter which is really amazing (loved the “Jarvis” project for instance, and the fact that it’s not spamming my mailbox everyday with crappy content trying to sell me things I don’t need). So I’m trying to learn some C++(the industry “standard”) using JUCE framework, a bit of MAXforLive and Reaktor too but it is really for personnal use at this stage.

Anyway, it’s just my first topic here, a kind of “introduction”, if you will (didn’t find a proper dedicated section, so feel free to do those sexy admin things you do to move it where it belongs, if this place exist).

To finish, I’d like to thank the FCC crew and community. This is a great place. Looking forward to interract, solve problems, chat and have fun with you.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! It is appreciated.

Hi @nicolas.skladanek, I salute you for your commitment, it is inspiring!

I think a great portion of this community is us newbies trying to find our way so you make me feel I’m in the right path when I read your story. By any chance is there anything I can listen from your electronic musician background?

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks for your kind words, but I’m not really keen to share this on a public forum: I’m here for the programming part, not to network for music or anything related, no offence. With time, if we become friends, maybe.
