Internalizing information

Hello,

New programmer here. I am dabbling with JS and HTML. One issue I keep running into, is if I take a few days off and come back to the lessons on freecodecamp, I feel as if I don’t remember how to do what I’m learning, and have to restart. What’re some good ways to keep it all in my mind?

Also, if I’m pretty much just starting out, realistically how much time should I be spending learning daily? My goal is to apply for an entry-level software engineer position in a year.

Sometimes you have to look back at previous lessons or google some stuff that you knew a few days ago. That’s perfectly normal and good.

That’s very normal. It can be hard to internalize and FCC moves through it kind of quickly. Don’t think you have to memorize it all. It’s more important to learn what is possible and know how to look it up. Google is a developer’s secret weapon.

That is up to you.

That might be difficult. Even learning full time, that is not a guarantee.

Just keep learning and building things.

If you search the forum, you’ll find a lot of these kinds of discussions.

Thanks for the advice. I’m very passionate about this field and am absolutely sure about this being my next career path. I’ll look further into the form so I don’t ask repeating questions.

If you combine that attitude with hard work, you’ll get thee eventually.
