Is a Tip Calculator App an acceptable project to put on a portfolio

I just finished building mine today and it took me only a few hours to build. https://codepen.io/noblegas/pen/povPrBW

Did I make my post in the wrong subforum?

You did, it should be under “career advice”
As for your post, I’d say yes but only as one of your first projects. Not as your showcase project

Not sure what you mean by “programing job”? All projects are valid on a portfolio, but you want to put the best you have not just a million things of varying quality.

  1. Round the totalTip and add currency to the numbers (you are overwriting the DOM content when you update the innerHTML of totalTip and actualTip).

  2. Think of ways to refactor the code to avoid repeating code (DRY).

  3. Try making the form elements fit together better and look a little nicer.

  4. If you are going to use a form I’d suggest having all the elements inside the form and using a button/input for the submit. You can disable the form submit by calling preventDefault inside the function on the submit event.

function calc(event) {
  event.preventDefault();
...other code
}
