Is "Advanced Algorithm Scripting" really optional?

I’m currently working on the “Front End Development Certification”. I’ve
got as far as the “Advanced Algorithm Scripting” section, and I see that all
the challenges in this section are unstarred, which means that the entire
section is optional.

That surprises me, because the preceding section, “Intermediate Algorithm
Scripting”, is mandatory. Could someone who knows please confirm that the
“Advanced Algorithm Scripting” section really is optional?

You can get the certificate without them. I would argue that you probably can’t accomplish a great deal with as a programmer if you aren’t able to do them.
