Is there any difference between .htm and .html?

Years ago I built a site using .htm for every page. It’s a nice site that works well but I’m wondering if there’s a reason why they should be .html instead. It would be a lot of work to switch them all but if there’s a good reason, I would do so. Any thoughts on the difference between them, good or bad, or should I leave well enough alone? Thanks for your input.

Simply .htm is an alternative for those servers that do not support 4 letter file extensions. Both are basically the same.
