Is there difference between programming and coding?

Hi, does programming and coding seem alike, or are they different?anyone help me breakdown the difference?

Most people use the terms ‘programming’ and ‘coding’ synonymously. Some people will try to say they are different, but I haven’t seen such a discussion really be useful, personally.

I’ve always thought of coding as being a subset of programming. To me, coding is writing code, whereas programming is everything involved around it; coding, research, installing dependencies, configuration, using git, etc… I’m not saying this is correct, but in my mind that’s how I see it. Maybe because I don’t like that two different words mean the same thing. I mean, what’s the point of having different words for the same thing? Cheers
