jQuery - Use jQuery to Modify the Entire Page

Does HTML assume that everything under the script tag is the body?

There is no explicit body tag here, how come the line $("body").addClass("animated fadeOut"); actually works and faded out everything under the script tag?
What is it actually targeting?

  **Your code so far**
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
  $("body").addClass("animated fadeOut");
});
</script>

<!-- Only change code above this line -->

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
  <div class="col-xs-6">
    <h4>#left-well</h4>
    <div class="well" id="left-well">
      <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
      <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
      <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
    </div>
  </div>
  <div class="col-xs-6">
    <h4>#right-well</h4>
    <div class="well" id="right-well">
      <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
      <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
      <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
    </div>
  </div>
</div>
</div>

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the answer!

So, the browser automatically assigns a body to HTML codes that do not have an explicit body tag?

yes, it does, exactly
