Learn Accessibility by Building a Quiz - Step 2 -- error? meta charset

Tell us what’s happening:
Describe your issue in detail here.

Your code so far

<!-- file: index.html -->
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">

<!-- User Editable Region -->

  <head>
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" />
  </head>

^this is what I’ve added so far, but I keep getting an error that says “Hint: You should give the meta tag a charset of UTF-8”

Link to the challenge:

Why did you delete the rest of the elements that were there?

Adding this one single line works for me if I delete nothing.

Where is the rest of your code?

I didn’t delete that stuff, I just chose not to include it in this post (first time posting on here).

In the lesson the body element and closing html tag are there.

Please post all of your code.

<body>

</body>

</html>

^that is all that is beneath what I originally posted.

It really helps if you post it all at once.

That all still works for me. I would make sure you aren’t using any browser extensions. You also deleted the info about which browser you are using, so I can’t really do much but guess.

Thanks for helping Jeremy.

Again this was my first post here so I didn’t know how to add HTML code on these comments.

The browser is FireFox. I think I do have a few extensions … DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, Dark Reader, AdBlocker Ultimate, Enhancer for YouTube, and Firefox Multi-Account Containers

Dark Reader is a common problem extension - it works by changing the HTML/CSS in your browser window.

Oh okay, thanks Jeremy I’ll try it without!

Awesome. Didn’t have to uninstall it, just needed to click the off switch.

Thank you :slight_smile:
