but it said I needed a closing tag which I provided. It still says it is incorrect both ways.

A tag always starts with < and ends with >. Does your opening html tag have both?

Also be mindful of spaces in your code. Too much space may not let your code display properly. Hope this helps :slightly_smiling_face:
