The example code is not meant to be inserted into your code.

element {
 property: value;
}

The example is just showing you to put the element name where it shows element. The property refers to text-align and the value is not centre. You have a typo.

If I wanted to style the body element and make the text aligned to the right side of the page, I would write:

<style>
  body {
    text-align: right;
  }
</style>

See if this example helps you to write the correct code.
