i’m stuck trying to figure out how to use the existing #menu selector to set the background color of the div element to be burlywood .

do not use html tags in the css file! look at the other css selectors and rules and try to reproduce that

ughhh for some reason i cant seem to figure it out. ok i will try many ways and come back if nothing works. i removed the html tag but still can’t.

You have added a comment. Reset your code.
Then in your curly brackets, after your 300px add a semicolon. Then add ‘background-color’ with a colon then add your color.
Example:
h1 { height:70px; width:80px; background-color:blue; }

thank you so much. i tried that but didn’t add the semicolon thats what i was missing. geez.
