Tell us what’s happening:

I have been attempting this for while it keeps saying : you should assign the string The to text.innerText

Your code so far

let xp = 0;
let health = 100;
let gold = 50;
let currentWeapon = 0;
let fighting;
let monsterHealth;
let inventory = ["stick"];

const button1 = document.querySelector('#button1');
const button2 = document.querySelector("#button2");
const button3 = document.querySelector("#button3");
const text = document.querySelector("#text");
const xpText = document.querySelector("#xpText");
const healthText = document.querySelector("#healthText");
const goldText = document.querySelector("#goldText");
const monsterStats = document.querySelector("#monsterStats");
const monsterName = document.querySelector("#monsterName");
const monsterHealthText = document.querySelector("#monsterHealth");
const weapons = [
  { name: 'stick', power: 5 },
  { name: 'dagger', power: 30 },
  { name: 'claw hammer', power: 50 },
  { name: 'sword', power: 100 }
];

“…replacing <monster name> with the name of the monster.”

You didn’t do this part.

Hello there,

The monster name was not given. I don’t know which monster name to add

Exactly. It will depend on which monster is being fought what then function is called. How did you figure out the name of the monster in the goFight() function?

This was the value I used in the goFight() function

monsters[fighting].name

Correct, that is how you get the name of the monster that is currently being fought. Now you just need to integrate that into the string you are setting for text.innerText in the attack() function.

Okay Thank you.

This is what I get .
“The” + monsters[fighting].name + “attacks.”; or "The monsters[fighting].name attacks.

You should assign the string The to innerText property of text .

I found the solution: it was the space in my "The " string.
