Learn Basic JavaScript by Building a Role Playing Game - Step 143

Tell us what’s happening:

Hello everyone kindly walk me through with this. The instruction is;

The attack of the monster will be based on the monster’s level and the player’s xp. In the getMonsterAttackValue function, use const to create a variable called hit. Assign it the equation (level * 5) - (Math.floor(Math.random() * xp));.

This will set the monster’s attack to five times their level minus a random number between 0 and the player’s xp.

my code is;

function getMonsterAttackValue(level) {

}

how do I use a const to create a variable called ‘hit’?

You have already used const to create several variables near the top of your code. Review lines 9-18 in your code to see how it is done.

You need to add const hit and above Syntex between your function { } brackets. Remove level text between ( ) brackets.

thanks mate. I done this.

function getMonsterAttackValue(level) {
const hit = document.querySelector('#hit');
(level * 5) - (Math.floor(Math.random() * xp));}

Appreciate. I done this.

function getMonsterAttackValue(level) {
const hit = document.querySelector('#hit');
(level * 5) - (Math.floor(Math.random() * xp));}

You want to set the variable hit to (level * 5) - (Math.floor(Math.random() * xp)). You are setting it to document.querySelector('#hit').
