Learn Basic JavaScript by Building a Role Playing Game - Step 76

Tell us what’s happening:

Describe your issue in detail here.

On JavaScript RPG 1.76 the simple addition is to take a working function (4 lines) and wrap it in if () { } with condition of gold >= 10.

The issue is the “Check Code” feature insists the prior code content is not wrapped within the if statement.

See code below? In addition to portal Learn Basic Javascript, I am tracking progress on my Linux laptop and code works on local browser until it exhaust my gold is 0 and health is now 150 as expected.

Just the portal can’t recognize my previous code.

Any ideas?

Your code so far

function buyHealth() {
if (gold >= 10) {
gold: gold -= 10;
health: health += 10;
goldText.innerText = gold;
healthText.innerText = health;
}
}

P.S. Thanks in advance for taking a look. Tim

So …I did solve it.

  1. Reset lesson 76
  2. when to end of function declaration, hit
  3. started typing if statement with condition and the opening {
  4. The user interface imediately added the ending }
  5. Confirmed if I delete the ‘ending }’ I didn’t type, and add one after my code – the UI cannot recognize my code.
  6. Repeated Reset
  7. Entered the if (gold >= 10) {
  8. The UI inserted the ending }
    9 THIS TIME – I grabbed (selected and cut) my 4 lines of code originally in the function, and clicked before the UI inserted } bracket and pasted my code.
    10 NOW the Check Code function was happy.

This is strange behavior, and using what i was given, I can at least move on to lesson 77.

Good luck.
