but of course, again, it’s not clear how to do this in the task

Please post your full code. You need to chain .join() immediately after .map(). You should not remove the .map()

Ok. You did not chain the .join() directly onto the .map(). Also, you created a variable v that was not requested in the instructions.

Chaining join to map means it has to be directly connected to the end parentheses of the map method.

Also, an empty string does not contain a space.
