it kept saying " Your new div elements should be within the div with the class container" did i miss anything?

what you did here is called - nesting of divs
you basically put one div inside another, then again one div inside another.

you need to close existing div, then just repeat that again and again. so don’t nest them.

You need open and close your divs (marker) in the same line.

As you wrote, the divs are nested.

i did that and it’s still not right

Each <div> closing tag should go right after the matching <div> opening tag and before your next <div> tag.
Ex:

<div></div>
<div></div>
