Step 49 of the “Learn CSS Colors by Building a Set of Colored Markers” is broken. I attempted completing it through Safari and it gave the same error even though the code was corrected. I reopened the tab in Google Chrome and did typed out the same code and it worked.

You mean that Safari is broken. We have been trying to work around Apple’s refusal to follow standards, but in the meantime we recommend browsers that adhere to web standards.
