Your code so far

  width: 100vw;
  height: 400px;
  background: linear-gradient(90deg, rgb(88, 175, 236), rgb(182, 255, 255));
  z-index: 3;
  position: absolute;
  margin-top: -58px;

It’s asking you to literally use the calc( ) method of CSS

Two things with this code

ground {height: calc(100vh - 300px);
  width: 100vw;
  height: 400px;
  background: linear-gradient(90deg, rgb(88, 175, 236), rgb(182, 255, 255));
  z-index: 3;
  position: absolute;
  margin-top: -58px;
}

The first is you are missing something in front of “ground” to make it a class.
The second is you have two height styles, one of them is correct and you need to get rid of the other one
