Tell us what’s happening:

I’m not really sure where to put the :root selector
Hint :
You should define --building-color1 with a value of #aa80ff in the :root selector.

Learn CSS Variables by Building a City Skyline - Step 25

Welcome to the forum.

For this challenge, reset the step, then write :root selector on the top new line, just like any other styling selector. Make sure to include the curvy brackets. Then cut and paste the variable declarations you created into the curvy brackets.

If done correctly the color of the buildings will change.

Happy coding
